Diversity – What It Really Means at Sony

Controversy around diversity are evolving particularly in the U.S. today. For nearly 80 years, Sony has embraced a management philosophy that values each one of unique individuals, which, we believe, “diversity” itself. In this session, I would like to share Sony’s journey and its vision of the true meaning and value of diversity in individuals as well as in business for the future.

  • What does it mean to manage by empowering individuals?
  • How does embracing individuals drive diversity, value creation, and innovation?
  • How does this apply to the diversity in business?
  • What defines an "individual"?
  • In an increasingly uncertain business environment, what is the true value of a management philosophy that supports, respects and embraces diversity and empowers individuals in both individuals and business?

PANEL DISCUSSION: Rebel HR: From Human Capital to Human Flourishing

As a follow-up to the Freedom to Flourish keynote, this interactive panel brings together several bold transformation pioneers to explore what it takes for HR to lead systemic change. The session will challenge the conventions of organisational design, performance, and leadership, offering a practical and provocative conversation about what “good” looks like when HR steps into its full moral and strategic potential.

Key Questions:
  • What are the structural limits of traditional HR in today’s crises?
  • How can HR shape organisations that produce social value, not just human capital?
  • What leadership and governance shifts are required to escape the “strategic partner” trap?
  • How do we build HR functions capable of challenging—and transforming—the system from within?
