Digital transformation is a “must” for every modern organisation as the current wave of digital technologies is evolving and spreading in a frenetic pace, bringing with it enormous benefits, but also risks. Not having a plan on how to “ride” this technological wave could quickly render an organisation inefficient, outdated and ultimately, irrelevant. Learning how to “ride” the wave can be daunting for any individual, let alone an entire organisation. But we have to face it with an open mind and be ready to change. To thrive in this new landscape, employees need to be engaged and empowered to learn and adapt to new technologies. The approach needs to be inclusive, thus ensuring that we have no digital divide. Recognising this enormous challenge, we at the European Commission have launched our own Digital Strategy. Through this strategy we aim to not only foster a digital culture and tools throughout our own internal procedures and daily work, but also to ensure that our policies are “digital ready” and thus beneficial to our stakeholders (Remember COVID19 electronic certificates?…)!
I look forward to sharing with you some practical examples of the European Commission’s Digital Strategy!
